Every Sunday, this group of young women come to the Greenwich Arts Council and volunteer their time and work with the young dancers. They are all so passionate and love to be there and it is truly magical to be in a room filled with such positivity.
Katherine Reynolds and Angelica Cilio, along with their mothers (Erika and Andrea, pictured above), created Flower Petals Adaptive Dance. They are both high school students at Greenwich High School in Greenwich, CT. They dance together on their high school dance team and at The Greenwich Ballet Academy. They've recruited passionate and loving volunteers from the community to work one-on-one with our precious Flower Petals dancers.
Both Angelica and Katherine have brothers on the Autism Spectrum. They've seen how difficult it is to find recreational programs for children with special needs. They decided to share their love of dance with the special needs community and became certified to teach adaptive ballet by taking a training course at The Boston Ballet in the summer of 2021. Together they lead both the dancers and the volunteers in class.
