Angelica Cilio and Katherine Reynolds were the first teachers at Flower Petals. They both have brothers on the autism spectrum. They saw how difficult it is to find recreational programs for children with special needs. They decided to share their love of dance with the special needs community and the girls became certified to teach adaptive ballet by taking a training course at The Boston Ballet in the summer of 2021. Since then, they have moved onto college but left the legacy of compassion volunteering.
Every Sunday, a group of high school students come to the Greenwich Arts Council and volunteer their time to work with our special needs dancers. They are all so passionate and love to be here, and it is truly magical to be in a room filled with such positivity.

I started ballroom dancing as a young child in Germany. My parents, both avid social ballroom dancers, asked me if I wanted to try ballroom dancing at my local school. I said yes and I’ve never looked back since. I completely fell in love with dance. I took dance lessons after school and on weekends, and eventually found a regular dance partner. I competed professionally as a teenager and adult at the prestigious Blackpool Dance Festival in Blackpool, England. I even won the German State Dance Championship. Years later, I received my master’s degree in physical education with a focus on Modern Dance Technique and Rehabilitation from the German Sport University in Cologne. I eventually made my way to the United States where I taught at several New York City area latin and ballroom dance studios. I’ve taught at events including the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center and Ballet Hispanico. I competed in The International Hustle & Salsa Congress, Hustle USA and the 5-Boro Dance Challenge. I’ve appeared in numerous television and movie credits, including Enchanted, Boardwalk Empire, The TODAY Show, ABC News, Midsummer Night’s Swing at Lincoln Center, and the New York City Festival of Dance.
Nearly ten years ago, I decided to go off on my own and start my own company, Dance Together NYC. I wanted to share my love of dance with others and give my clients unparalleled, personalized dance instruction. Since then, I've taught hundreds of students how to dance. But what excites me the most is the transformation people go through when they learn how to dance. I’m extremely proud of working with people who didn’t think they could dance. I’ve heard it all…"Sure, I'd love to dance, but I've got two left feet," or "I have no rhythm or sense of timing! I'll never be able to dance."
Everyone can learn how to dance. If you can walk, you can learn how to dance. It's as simple as that. I've taught wedding couples, Hollywood movie stars, teenagers, and seniors how to dance. I've taught people who thought they couldn't dance and eventually took up dance as a serious hobby. I am excited to be a part of FlowerPetals and know we are going to do great things !
