to Benefit FlowerPetalsAdaptiveDanceCo
Jewels Harrison, 20, is a pianist from New Canaan, CT that performs a variety of genres from jazz to pop to classical. He is a student of Lagond Music School in Elmwood NY, where he studies with renewed musician and teacher Anthony " Rusty" Cloud. Jewels was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at the age of 2 years old, and took an immediate interest in playing the piano. Early on his evolution as a musician, he began to study with Karen Nisenson, and soon became the inspiration for the Simply Music Getaway Program for many local organizations such as Grace Farms Foundation, Magical Musical for Life, and many others. He is also a frequent performer with the Especially Everyone Ensemble, and most recently formed the Jewels Harrison Trio performing to benefit Flower Petals Adaptive Dance Co.
Especially Everyone's mission is to make music inclusive and accessible to everyone, in a way that will encourage participation and discovery of purpose through its creation.
The Founder, Pete Kozak, is a behavioral therapist and a musician, and first had the idea for the organization while he was working as job coach in 2016. After a client mentioned that he had never attended a live concert, Kozak realized that many of the characteristics of ta traditional concert experience did not appeal to people with Auditory and Sensory Challenges. With that realization, Especially Everyone was born in 2018. The Especially Everyone Experience was launched as a quarterly concert series that considered the challenges of people with special needs. The concerts were hosted Sunday afternoons with modifications to the sound and lighting design, a sensory break area and an ensemble that featured several talented musicians on the Autism Spectrum.
